BOOM claimed revenge against Sharks in the South American ESL Pro League Season 12 grand final with a 3-1 series victory to take the title.
BOOM made short work of Sharks in the final ESL Pro League match for South America, making up for an earlier 1-2 loss in the upper bracket final as they swept aside Jhonatan "jnt" Silva and company's one-map default advantage with dominant victories on Vertigo, Dust2, and Inferno, to pick up their sixth title of the year.
An early 3-0 start to Vertigo saw Sharks pull ahead to kick off the series, but a swift response from BOOM had Bruno "shz" Martinelli and company win six in a row to take the lead. A strong showing from Raphael "exit" Lacerda allowed Sharks to fight back for eight rounds in the half, with the 24-year-old boasting a 21-5 K-D as his team swapped to the attacking side.
exit's stellar performance proved to not be enough for Sharks to remain in the lead as BOOM assumed firm control in the second half, taking the pistol round and ensuing anti-eco before falling in the first gun round. However, that was the sole round that would go the way of Sharks as their all-Brazilian opposition quickly gained momentum, closing out the map in fast fashion, 16-8.
Dust2, the map pick of Sharks, unfolded in similar fashion, although this time it was BOOM who led early on with a 6-3 scoreline. A tense back-and-forth towards the latter portion of the half saw Sharks reduce the deficit between them and their opponents to a single round, but much like on Vertigo, it was BOOM who reigned supreme following the side swap as they only gave up two additional rounds en route to a 16-9 finish.
A USP-S quad kill from Mateus "supLexN1" Miranda got Sharks off on the right foot on Inferno, but a Deagle triple from shz saw BOOM answer right back to recover from a 3vs5 situation and turn the tide. Entry kills from João "felps" Vasconcellos and shz helped their side push up to a 5-1 lead before Sharks began to respond, making a comeback effort as they yet again brought themselves within one round of their opposition by the break.
The second half continued to be BOOM's playground as they assumed control, winning the majority of the opening rounds to push up to a 14-10 scoreline. A triple kill from Luca "Luken" Nadotti put Sharks back on the board, but he was denied a 1vs4 ace clutch attempt in the ensuing round as BOOM got back in the saddle, with the team wasting little time in closing out the series with a 16-12 map win.
